Help students learn the features of fictional literature with this Genre Sort Activity!
Students read about the main types of fiction and the features of each with a one-page handout. From there, students are given settings and characters and are asked to sort them into the genre they feel they would best fit. You can have students stop there, or go on to some partner work, where students are tasked with coming up with titles for each genre and reflecting on their reading habits and favorites. Finally, students get a book recommendation from another classmate. Answers will vary. Includes both PRINTABLE and DIGITAL VERSIONS for Distance Learning and In-Person Classrooms.
